40th Birthday

Aloha! Welcome back to another one of my blogs. In this blog, I share with you what I’ve been up to for my 40th Birthday! I went to London for a couple of days as it’s one of my favourite places and I did a variety of different things which I LOVED. So without further ado, here’s a little rundown of what I got up to for my 40th.

Winter Wonderland

On my Birthday I headed up to London on a coach and once there I made my way to Winter Wonderland. I went once before about 7 years ago and really enjoyed it so thought I would pay it a little visit this year. I went through the red entrance which brought me to Santa Land which is very popular with children and families as they have lots of children friendly rides and even Santa makes an appearance in his Grotto. I made my way through this area and headed to towards the area where the Bar Ice was as I had booked a ticket to visit there. Included in the ticket price of £16.50 was a drink and you also get a coat and some gloves to wear before entering. You get a 20 minute time slot and after getting my free drink, (I opted for a Strawberry Daiquiri) I then made my way around the ice bar to look at all the beautiful little ice sculptures and seating areas. They had some tunes playing so I felt like I was on a night out, only cold and in the day time. After my time was over I had a look around at the rides and Christmas markets, had a hot chocolate at one of the bars then headed to The Bavarian Village. After a look around here I headed to The Bavarian Hall which gets very busy and popular, but since I got to Winter Wonderland around midday, It was less busy as was all of the Winter Wonderland site. I waited for the singer to start in The Bavarian Hall and spent around half an hour there. The atmosphere was great especially as it got busier and everyone was singing along to the popular songs that the singer sang. I didn’t get anything to eat at WW but did have a couple of soft drinks which were about £2.70 each and the hot chocolate was about £2.80. I really enjoyed my self at Winter Wonderland, I would probably like to go when it is a bit busier next time, but still manged to enjoy myself and experience the festive fun.

Bridgetts Aftertoon Tea Bus Tour

Next up on my agenda was was an Afternoon Tea bus tour by Bridgets Bakery. The company do several different themed afternoon tea bus tours such as Paddington, Bombay Saphire Gin Lovers, Peppa Pig and various festive themed tours around Christmas time such as a Grinch themed or Christmas lights tour. Well I absolutely love Christmas so went for the Christmas Lights bus tour, and it certainly didn’t disappoint. I had a lovely afternoon tea with food such as finger sandwhiches, cakes & a scone and had a lovey glass of Prosecco and some hot drinks including a Christmas Tea and a Latte. They had a nice variety of drinks to choose from and they kept refilling my cup and glass which was nice and the drinks and refills were all included in the price. The afternoon tea was delightful and we saw some sights such as Trafalgar Square, Downing Street, Marble Arch and more. They also took us down Regent Street so we could see all of the Christmas Lights which I really liked. The staff were brilliant and were only to happy to help and look after you, and something which made my day that extra special was when the staff brought out a little cake with a candle on and got the whole of the top deck to sing Happy Birthday to me. I got talking to some lovely passengers and the whole experience was wonderful. Thoroughly recommended.

Oxford Street

The next day after staying overnight in the lovely H10 Waterloo Hotel, I headed to Oxford Street. I had a good look around the shops and admired all the lovely decorations and window displays then made a bee line to some of my favourite shops including Selfridges, John Lewis and being a Disney fan, the Disney store. I love Selfrifges and could spend a long time in there, they have so many different things in there and have the most gorgeous things at Christmas such as decorations and lovely festive themed cakes and food. Even Santa made an appearance checking out the cakes! Even though I was hoping to buy a few nice things like maybe some clothes, I didn’t really buy much apart from a face wash by Clinique, a lip mask & some food and drink. Just walking down Oxford Street this year was lovely and something which I wanted to do for my Birthday.

Frozen the Musical

I love seeing shows and have wanted to see Frozen the Musical for a while now after seeing lots of clips on the Internet and good reviews. I really enjoyed the film and love Disney so it was a no-brainer to go and see it really. Well, I can say that it was superb. The performances were top notch and the set and effects were fantastic. The performers who played Anna & Elsa were particularly good as were the younger cast members who played the characters as children. The effects were dazzling and I loved Elsa’s quick (and magic!) change in to her sparkly dress. The crowd went crazy when Elsa sang Let It Go and everyone I overheard talking about the show were saying how good it was. I loved the interpretation of Sven the Reindeer and thoroughly enjoyed all the musical numbers. A must see if you’re wanting to see a show and a little bit of magic.

Covent Garden

After I’d watched Frozen, I realised I had a bit of time until my coach home. So, I decided to take a little trip to Covent Garden. Covent Garden always looks so beautiful at Christmas, so I headed to the Apple Market and the shops that were next to it. It was lovely to walk in to some musicians playing Christmas songs in the downstairs area and was lovely to see all the giant Bell decorations up in the area. After I’d had a good look around I decided to go outside and look at the big Christnas tree with lights in then had a look outside at the shops nearby such as Glossier, Charlotte Tilbury & Nars. Something which I thought was particularly nice was that they had a little area near to the Apple Market which sprayed out fake snow every now and then which made me feel very festive. After that I got my coach home and reflected on what a lovely couple of days I had for my 40th Birthday.

I hope you enjoyed this blog post.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
