If you know me well, you’ll know that aswell as enjoying getting out and about doing things like exploring London, eating out & having a good night out from time to time, I also love being at home and am a bit of a home bird. I love relaxing and doing things at home like lounging, pampering and putting on the TV and just relaxing with a good cuppa. I also like watching other people on youtube and their channels and especially like watching lifestyle based content.
So, I thought I’d do a blog showing you my current favourite TV programmes and youtube channels.
My current favourite TV programmes
Gossip Girl

I came across Gossip Girl on the ITV X app and had been curious about it for some time. I’m on the first season and have watched 10 episodes so far and have been getting in to it more recently. It follows the lives of teens who live interesting and wealthy lives in New York which include all the drama, heartbreak and events that are also spoken and documented about on a blog by a secret identity know as only “Gossip Girl.” I’m watching the original series that stars Blake Lively but there is also a reboot of the show that came out in 2021. I like watching the characters events and seeing the drama that unfold in their privileged and scrutinised lives.
90210
I was looking for TV series to watch whilst I was off work recovering from surgery for a few months. I found this box set on Vinted for just £15 so thought I’d just go for it and give it a go. I was glad I did! I tend to like things like tv programmes and films based on teenagers lives and adventures. Like for example I really like the teen films & programmes from when I was growing up like Clueless, Never been Kissed, Mean Girls, Dawson’s Creek etc. I never watched the original famous series of Beverley Hills 90210 staring Luke Perry & Jason Priestly, but I was really interested in giving this reboot a go and seeing what it’s all about.
The current series follows a new set of characters going to the same famous Beverley Hills high school as the previous series characters and explores their lives living in the lux area of Berverley Hills. Like Gossip Girl, it shows the drama, ups & downs and adventures of the Beverley Hills Students, and I must say I’m really enjoying it and will be watching the series all the way through to the end. For fans of the original series you can be sure to look out for some famous faces from the original series making an appearance in several episodes.
Hollyoaks

I never used to watch Hollyoaks when I was a teenager in the 90’s. It just didn’t appeal to me and I coudn’t get in to it every time I tried to watch it. However, I had some free time in 2020 and decided to try watching it again, and to my surprise I started to really get in to it. I think as well as timing that the programme might have developed and changed somewhat and it appealed to me more and I found myself watching it every week. I like the fact that it’s a bit different to other soaps that I’ve maybe tried to watch in the past and they really go bold with the subjects and storylines that they cover.
Game of Thrones

My ultimate and all time favourite TV programme. I love this TV series. I started watching it in around 2014 and I was hooked and glued to the screen ever since. A bit different to my other programmes that I’ve been watching and liking, it is a fantasy based tv series about corruption, power and an inevitable greater threat to all the houses that have been at war and at odds with one another. It’s extremely clever writing and I found so many brilliant characters in this tv drama that it is so hard to just pick one or two. It’s inspired some spin off series since which I have yet to watch and I found that the final series wasn’t as good as the previous ones, but I can quite happily sit through this series again.
My current fave youtube channels
Scarlet London

Scarlet’s channel was one of the first Youtube channels that I got in to. I found her content so easy to watch and found myself watching one video after the other. A very lifestyle based channel she vlogs about places she visits on holiday, luxury shopping, hauls as well as documenting health related and other things. She hasn’t done youtube content recently but I still enjoy her lovely videos.
Tanya Burr

Tanya is classed as one of the OG vloggers. One of the original popular lifestyle vloggers and a member of the ‘Brit Crew’ consisting of other popular vloggers that had a huge following and were mainly popular between about 2012 and 2016. She and the other youtubers still have loads of viewers and Tanya is a youtuber that I have taken an interest in more recently. Again like Scarlett, she is really easy to watch and has a very likeable and down to earth personality. Her older videos consist of mainly make up tutorials and things like favourites vidoes but her more recent ones include things like day in the life and cosy chat vidoes. I’m loving her content and am all here for it.
Operation Nikki
I came across Nikki’s little videos in the past couple of months and I’ve just really gelled with her personality and her videos. She does alot of shorts as apposed to the longer videos but I always find myself watching one of her videos when she pops up. She’s very clean, very organised and her house looks amazing. She also has some nice beauty products and a nice self care routine.
Victoria Magrath
Victoria is a fashion and beauty vlogger and also runs an award winning blog. She has a PHD in fashion so really knows her stuff and has a beautiful classic chic taylored style when it comes to her fashion and is a lover of designer items and also high end make up and beauty products. She’s recently bought out a cosmetics range and continues to rack up lots of views and followers with her content and as someone who’s started to invest in more high end make up and beauty products and is also evolving with my taste in fashion, I really like watching her content and following her on various socials.
Louise Pentland

Another OG vlogger, Louise has videos on her youtube dating back 15 years ago. She was another member of the Brit Crew and although she’s been creating content for some time, I’ve only really recently started to really watch her videos. Louise is bubbly, friendly & chatty and describes her channel as comfy cosy content which is something I really like about it and does a range of videos such as sharing her daily life, travel, motherhood and home videos. The perfect cosy content to get comfy on your sofa with a cuppa.
Freddy my Love

I discovered Freddy earlier this year as she really stood out with her pretty, girly, younique style and aesthetic on her youtube channel and instagram. She does alot of fashion, beauty & travel videos and her clothes are fit for a princess. She has brought out her own fashion line which is similar to Freddy’s style – classy, elegant and glamourous, and it’s so nice to be able to dip in to her world and watch her life through the lens of one of her videos.

TV programmes I would like to watch
Stranger Things
Something which everyone’s been on about for years. I watched a couple of episodes through one of my old housemates Netflix accounts and it seemed pretty good. A supernatural, science fiction drama set in the 80’s following the lives and events of people living in a strange town called Hawkins, I was impressed with what I saw and do want to follow this up and continue to watch this series
Made in Chelsea
I never used to be interested in anything almost remotely reality based television wise. I just didn’t really get the appeal. But, one time a few years ago, I didn’t find anything to watch on TV so I watched a few episodes of Love Island and found I actually started to get in to it. I’ve watched a couple of series of Love Island, and I’ve also found a few series of Celebrity Big Brother really enjoyable and entertaining. Made in Chelsea never used to appeal to me, but now I am intrieged and would really like to try watching it from the first series. Seeing people live that kind of lifestyle seems so intriguing to me. I also like the guys that were in the original series.
Wednesday
Again like Stranger Things I saw an episode of this on a friends Netflix. I was a bit hesitant to watch this at first as I love The Adams Family Films and the character of Wednesday played so brilliantly by Christina Ricci so much. I couldn’t really imagine another version of Wednesday. But I was impressed by the sheer effort and production that had gone in to the series first episode and how well Jenna Ortaga played her version of Wednesday. It’s got me curious and I want to give the series a whirl and watch it.
The OC
So you’ve probably established by now that I like teen dramas. I didn’t realise quite how long ago that this series first came out, it came out all the way back in 2003! It only seems like yesterday! It ran to 2007 and I remember reading about the actors and actresses from it in girly magazines and people liking Rachel Bilson’s style and trying to replicate it. I always hear good things about this show and again like 90210 and Gossip Girl, it follows a group of wealthy young peoples lives, this time living in the very upmarket area of Newport. Definately one to watch on my list.
Sex in The City
I love the films and have both of them on DVD. I’ve watched a handful of episodes over the years and have liked them so I think I’m going to have to have to watch several seasons after I’ve finished watching some of my current programmes that I watch. For those who don’t know, Sex in The City follows four young women in living in New York and features the ups and downs of their lives as they navigate their way through their 30’s, relationships and life. It’s also got a sequel series ‘And Just Like That’ which I am intrieged about.
Do you have any recommendations or favourite programmes or youtubers you like to watch? Let me know in the comments what they are.
Bye for now
