My current skincare routine

Skincare is something I’ve really gotten in to over the past few years, and something I find so important. I’ve looked after my skin since I was around 15 years old, and whilst other friends of mine were splashing out on and experimenting with foundation, I was pampering my skin. I watched and learned from my mother who used to take good care of her skin and I used to sneak in to her make up kit and borrow her moisturiser whilst I was at school. My skin was always so dry and flaky and I loved the way my skin looked with moisturiser. It was all fresh and plump and that’s when I started to take an interest in my skin.

After trying various products in my early to mid teens such as cleansers and washes, some of which unfortunately weren’t right me because of my sensitive skin, I then found things like Boots sensitive skincare range and the Simple brand which seemed to not react with my sensitive skin. Over the years though, I realised there were a lot more products out there so decided to try out mid/high end range products as well as the sensitive skin range high street brands.

My current skincare routine

Micellar water: I like to use Micellar water to take my make up off or if I’m feeling a bit tired sometimes I find it can be very effective on its own as a cleanser and makes my skin all clean & refreshed without irritating it at all. Sometimes I like to use it in place of a toner too as it is just so gentle and affective on my skin. I’m currently using Garniers’ Micellar Cleaning Water.

Cleanser: The first thing I like to do after taking my make up off is use Superfood Cica Calm Cleansing Foam by Elemis. I’ve been using it for about 6 months now and It is so gentle and calming but clears my skin so well and makes it all radiant. I already noticed a difference after about 1 week of using it and it’s just gotten better and better since then. I remember having a facial by Elemis last year and my skin just looked so nice and radiant I promised myself I would buy some products at some point. I’m so glad I did.

Exfoliator: I roughly exfoliate about two times a week but no more then that as I find it a bit too harsh on my sensitive skin. I’m currently using St. Ives Gentle Smoothing Oatmeal Scrub & Maskfask which I find works pretty well.

Serum: I’m currently using Boots No 7 Perfect & Protect Intense Advanced Serum which leaves my skin looking soft, smooth & glowing. It also evens out my skin tone which I love. One of my favourite beauty products.

Moisturiser: The moisturiser I’m using at the moment is a Clarins’ Multi – Active Jour with SPF 20. I always try to go for a moisturiser with an SPF as it’s important to protect your skin from the sun. I’ve been using this for a few months now and I absolutely love it. It’s my favourite moisturizer that I have used and contains antioxidants, SPF 20 and makes my skin look fresh, dewy and radiant.

Eye cream: Eye cream is something that I’ve only started to do more recently. I never really used to bother with it, but in the past couple of years I was reading about the eye area and how delicate it is and I’ve realised how important it is to use one instead of putting a heavy moisturiser on there. Also, I’m in my 30’s now so It’s good to prepare for those first lines. I’ve noticed a difference in what my eye area looks like since using Boots No. 7 Protect & Perfect eye serum. And they are more hydrated and feel refreshed.
